On March 14, 2025, a projector valued at Rs. 135,000, donated to Mapalana Siri/Pannalankara Vidyalaya in Kamburupitiya by Arthur and Emelie Gazeweski, two generous donors of the UKFG (Friends of Galle) Foundation, was officially handed over by Mr. Devsiri P. Hewavidana to the school’s respected Principal, Mr. Saman Meegahawatta, at a brief ceremonial event.
In his welcome address, the Principal warmly expressed his deep gratitude and joy while outlining the various contributions made to the school by Mr. Hewavidana and his philanthropic friends
He stated: “The UK Friends of Galle Foundation, led by Devsiri Sir continues to support us in extraordinary ways. Thanks to them, we now have a library worth Rs. 700,000, a badminton court, a children’s counseling office, a TV set, a smart board, new shoes for all students, a full set of musical instruments, and smart uniforms for our band, books and school bags for Grade 1 children, and much more. We express our heartfelt appreciation and respect to Mr. Devsiri and his kind-hearted donors for these invaluable contributions.
Last year, during a visit where they witnessed the children’s talents, Arthur and Emelie Gazeweski gifted us a smart board worth nearly Rs. 800,000. Today, they have donated a much-needed projector to our school. We extend our sincere gratitude to them and to their two children, for their kindness.”
After several captivating dance performances and sing-alongs by the students, Mr. Hewavidana, along with the academic staff, awarded medals and certificates to students who excelled in sports.
In his address to the gathering, Mr. Devsiri Hewavidana expressed his great satisfaction with the progress the school has made under Principal Migahawatta’s leadership. He added that the children of Mapalana are truly fortunate to have such a dedicated head leading their school and affirmed that the Friends of Galle Foundation would continue to support the school as long as Mr. Meegahawatta remains its principal.
Mr. Hewavidana’s contribution did not end with handing over the projector on behalf of Arthur and Emelie. He also personally made a cash donation to the school, requesting the Principal to use it to purchase any urgently needed items.

මාපලාන විදුහලට වටිනා ප්‍රොජෙක්ටර් යන්ත්‍රයක් පරිත්‍යාග කෙරේ
එක්සත් රාජධානියේ ගාලු මිතුරු පදනමේ දානපතින් වන ආතර් හා එමලි ගජෙවෙස්කී යුවළ විසින් කඹුරුපිටියේ මාපලාන සිරි/පඤ්ඤාලංකාර විද්‍යාලයට පරිත්‍යාග කරන ලද රුපියල් ලක්ෂ 1.35ක් වටිනා ප්‍රොජෙක්ටර් යන්ත්‍රය 2025 මාර්තු 14දා පැවති සුළු උත්සවයක දී දෙව්සිරි පී. හේවාවිදාන මහතා විසින් ගරු විදුහල්පති සමන් මීගහවත්ත මහතාට භාරදෙන ලදී. පිළිගැනීමේ කතාව කළ ගරු විදුහල්පතිතුමා දෙව්සිරි පී. හේවාවිදාන මහතා හා එතුමාගේ දානපති මිතුරන් විසින් පාසලට කරන ලද අනේක උපකාර එකිනෙක විස්තර කළේ මහත් සතුටකිනි. “දෙව්සිරි සර්ගේ ගාලු මිතුරු පදනම අපිට පුදුමකාර විදියට උදව් කරනවා. අපට රු.ලක්ශ 7ක් වටිනා පුස්තකාලයක්, බැඩ්මින්ටන් පිටියක්, ළමා උපදේශක කාර්යාලයක්, රූපවාහිනි යන්ත්‍රයක්, Smart Board එකක් අපේ පාසලේ සියළුම දරුවන්ට අලුත් සපත්තු, තූර්ය වාදක කණ්ඩායමට අවශ්‍ය සියලුම සංගීත උපකරණ හා අලංකාර නිල ඇඳුම්, පළමු ශ්‍රේණියේ දරුවන්ට අවශ්‍ය පොත්පත්, පාසල් බෑග් යනාදී බොහෝ දේ ලබා දී තිබෙනවා. ඒ වෙනුවෙන් දෙව්සිරි මහත හා එතුමාගේ දානපති මිතුරන්ට අපේ බලවත් ගෞරවයත් ස්තුතියත් මේ අවස්ථාවේ පුද කරනවා.
පහුගිය වසරේ මෙහි පැමිණ දරුවන්ගේ දස්කම් බලා සතුටු වුන ආතර් හා එමලි ගජවෙස්කි යුවල අපිට රුපියල් ලක්ෂ අටක් පමණ වටිනා ස්මාර්ට් බෝඩ් එකක් පිරිනැමුවා. අද එම යුවළ අප පාසැලට අත්‍යාවශ්‍යව තිබූ ප්‍රොජෙක්ටර් යන්ත්‍රයක් පිරිනැමුවා. ඒ වෙනුවෙන් අපි එම යුවලටත් මේ හා ලූක් නැමැති දරුවන් දෙදෙනාටත් අපේ හද පිරි කෘතඥතාවය මෙයින් පළ කර සිටිනවා”
විදුහලේ දරුවන්ගේ අලංකාර නර්තන හා ගිනිකෙළි සංදර්ශන කිහිපයකින් පසු දෙව්සිරි මහතා ඇතුළු ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලය විසින් ක්‍රීඩා වලින් ජයගත් දරුවන්ට පදක්කම් හා සහතික පත්‍ර ප්‍රදානය කරන ලදී. ඉන්පසු සභාව ඇමතූ දෙව්සිරි හේවාවිදාන මහතා ගරු විදුහල්පති මීගහවත්ත මහතා යටතේ මාපලාන විදුහල ලබා ඇති ප්‍රගතිය ගැන තමා ඉතාමත් සතුටට පත් වන බව පැවසීය. දරුවන්ගේ යහපත වෙනුවෙන් ඇප කැපවී වැඩ කරන මෙවැනි වටිනා විදුහල්පතිවරයකු ලැබී ඇති මාපලාන දරුවන් ඉතාම වාසනාවන්තයින් බව ද එතුමා පාසැලේ විදුහල්පතිව සිටිනතුරු ගාලු මිතුරු පදනම පැසැලට හැකි තරම් උදව් කරන බව ද ප්‍රකාශ කළේය.
ආතර් එමලි යුවල වෙනුවෙන් ප්‍රොජෙක්ට්‍රර් යන්ත්‍රය විදුහල්පතිවරයාට පරිත්‍යාග කළ දෙව්සිරි මහතා එතෙකින් නැවතුනේ නැත. විදුහලට අත්‍යාවශ්‍ය ඕනෑම දෙයක් මිලදී ගන්නා ලෙස ඉල්ලා සිටිමින් එතුමා විදුහල්පතිතුමාට මුදල් පරිත්‍යාගයක්ද කළේය.එම උත්සව අවස්ථාවේදී ගන්නා ලද පින්තූර හා විඩියෝ සමුහයයි මේ.
