In the morning of January 8th , Mr. Devsiri Hewavidana and Mr. Ananda Hewavidana visited Kamburupitiya Maha Vidyalaya carrying many gifts. The honorouble Principal, Mr. Chaminda Liyanarachchi, the teaching staff, and more than thousand students warmly welcomed the two distinguished guests and escorted them with great enthusiasm to the assembly area.
In his welcome address, the Honourable Principal stated that it was a great privilege for the school to be able to associate—even after twenty-one years—with the UK Friends of Galle Foundation, which has been rendering an immense service to 17 schools in the Kamburupitiya area.
The students brightened the ceremony with beautiful dances, performances, and songs.
Addressing the gathered students, Mr. Devsiri delivered an entertaining speech, asking them simple general-knowledge questions and rewarding those who gave correct answers with chocolates brought from England.
At the conclusion of the event, amidst loud applause, he donated a much-needed collection of books worth Rs. 25,000 to the school library.
Before leaving, Mr. Devsiri bid farewell to the students with some sadness, promising that when he returns to Sri Lanka in April 2026, his first visit will be to meet the lovely children of Kamburupitiya Maha Vidyalaya once again.

කඹුරුපිටිය මහා විද්යාලයට පොත් රැසක්
අද උදෑසන දෙව්සිරි හා ආනන්ද හේවාවිදාන මහත්වරු කඹුරු පිටිය මහා විද්යාලයට ගියේ තෑගි රැසක් රැගෙනය. ගරු විදුහල්පති චාමින්ද ලියනා රච්චි මහතා, ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලය හා දහසක් විදුහල් දරුවෝ විශේෂ අමුත්තන් දෙපළ ඉතා ඉහළින් පිළිගෙන රැස්වීම් භූමිය වෙත මහත් හරසරින් කැඳවාගෙන ගියෝය . පිළිගැනීමේ කතාව කළ ගරු විදුහල්පතිතුමා කියා සිටියේ කඹුරුපිටියේ පාසල් 17 කට අති විශාල සේවයක් කරමින් සිටින ගාලු මිතුරු පදනමට අවුරුදු විසි එකකට පසුව හෝ සම්බන්ධ වීමට ලැබීම තම විදුහලේ භාග්යයක් ලෙස සලකන බවය
විදුහල් දරුවෝ මනහර නැටුම් ගැයුම් හා ගීතවලින් උත්සව සභාව ආලෝකමත් කළෝය
රැස්ව සිටි දරුවන් අමතා විනෝදාත්මක කතාවක් කළ දෙව්සිරි මහතා
ඔවුන්ගෙන් සරල සාමාන්ය දැනීම ප්රශ්න අසමින් හරි උත්තරය දුන් සිසුනට එංගලන්තයෙන් ගෙන්වන ලද චොකලට් තෑගි වශයෙන් ලබා දුන්නෝය
අවසානයේදී එතුමා විද්යාලයේ පුස්තකාලයට අත්යාවශ්යවම තිබූ රු 25000ක් වටිනා පොත්පත් තොගයක් ත්යාග කරේ සියලු දෙනාගේම අත්පොළසන් මධ්යයේය.
2026 අප්රේල් මාසයේ නැවත ශ්රී ලංකාවට පැමිණි විට මුලින්ම කඹුරුපිටිය මහා විද්යාලයේ සුන්දර දරුවන් බැහැ දැකීමට එන බවට පොරොන්දු වෙමින් දෙව්සිරි මහතා ඔවුන්ගෙන් සමුගත්තේ තරමක කණගාටුවෙනි.
