On the 1st of February, Mr. Devsiri’s friends from England, Harry Tower and Emily Chaplin , arrived for a visit to Ullala village in Kamburupitiya. After enjoying a delicious lunch at the home of Mr Devsiri ’s sister, Mrs. Chulani, and her husband, Mr. Prema, they set out to explore the beauty of the village.
Accompanied by UKFG scholarship assistant Imasha and her little sister, Harry and Emily walked through the lush paddy fields, cinnamon gardens, and tea estates of Ullala. They had a wonderful time mixing with the local people, chatting happily with village children, and tasting traditional homemade food, truly experiencing the warmth and hospitality of the community.
On Poya Day, they also enjoyed drinking sav kenda, a traditional herbal porridge, from Sayuru Son’s charity stall, appreciating both the local culture and spirit of generosity.
The kind and generous couple donated a laptop computer, sent by Mr. Devsiri, to a talented student named Githma, who studies at Mapalana School. They also made a thoughtful visit to another Mapalana student, Kalani, who is currently unwell, showing their care and concern.
Later, Harry and Emily shared a delicious dinner at Imasha’s home and spent a pleasant evening with her family. They stayed the night at Mrs. Chulani’s house, ending a joyful and memorable day.

Mapalana School welcomes Harry & Emily
After enjoying many wonderful experiences in Ullala village on the 1st of February, Harry and Emily visited Mapalana Vidyalaya on the 2nd of February.
They were warmly welcomed by the Honorable Principal, Mr. Saman Meegahawaththa, along with the dedicated teaching staff and the cheerful students of the school. Smiling children eagerly gathered around the couple and lovingly garlanded them with flowers of many beautiful colors, creating a truly heart-warming welcome.
Throughout the day, Harry and Emily found great joy in spending time with the children. They happily played cricket and badminton with the younger boys and girls, laughing and sharing unforgettable moments. One especially amusing moment occurred during the cricket match when Emily was declared out seven times, but the boys kindly decided that all of them were no-balls and insisted she continue batting—much to everyone’s delight.
The children also sang songs and danced with Harry and Emily with pure happiness and excitement. The couple deeply enjoyed the company of the children, admiring their innocence, kindness, and joyful spirit. It was a truly memorable and special day for the students of Mapalana Vidyalaya.
When it was time for the school to close, the atmosphere turned emotional. The children lined up to shake hands with Harry and Emily, saying goodbye with sad faces and heavy hearts. Many of them asked the couple to return next year to visit them again, making the farewell even more touching.

පෙබරවාරි 1 වන දින දෙව්සිරි මහතාගේ මිතුරන් වන එන්ගලන්තයේ හැරී ටවර් සහ එමිලි චැප්ලින් කඹුරුපිටියෙ උල්ලල ගමට සංචාරයකට පැමිණියහ. දෙව්සිරි මහතාගේ සහෝදරිය වන චූලනි මහත්මිය සහ ඇගේ සැමියා ප්රේමවන්ත මහතාගේ නිවසේ රසවත් මධ්යහ්න භෝජනයක් භුක්ති විඳීමෙන් අනතුරුව, ඔවුන් උල්ලල ගමේ සුන්දරත්වය අත්විඳීමට පිටත් වූහ.
UKFG ශිෂ්යත්ව නිලධාරිණී ඉමාෂා සහ ඇගේ කුඩා සහෝදරිය අමාශා සමඟ හැරී සහ එමිලි උල්ලල ගමේ සරු වී කුඹුරු,කෙත්වතු, කුරුඳු වතු සහ තේ වගා භූමි හරහා ඇවිදමින් ගමේ සුන්දරත්වය අත්වින්දහ. ගම්වාසීන් සමඟ මිශ්ර වෙමින්, ගමේ දරුවන් සමඟ සතුටින් කතාබස් කරමින්, සාම්ප්රදායික ගෙදර සෑදූ ආහාර රසවිඳමින්, ඔවුන් ප්රජාවේ උණුසුම් සෙනෙහස සතුටෙන් අත්වින්දහ.
එදින පෝය දිනදී උල්ලල විදුහලේ සයුරු පුතාගේ දන්සැලෙන් ලබාගත් සාම්ප්රදායික ඖෂධීය පානයක් වන “සව් කැඳ” රසවිඳිමින්, ඔවුන් දේශීය සංස්කෘතිය හා දානශීලීත්වයේ අගය වටහා ගත්තෝය
කරුණාවන්ත මෙම යුවළ, දෙව්සිරි මහතා විසින් එවා තිබූ ලැප්ටොප් පරිගණකයක් මාපලාන පාසලේ අධ්යාපනය ලබන දක්ෂ සිසුවියක් වන ගිත්මා සිත්මිණිට පරිත්යාග කළහ. තවද, මේ වනවිට රෝගී තත්ත්වයක සිටින මාපලාන පාසලේ තවත් සිසුවියක් වන කලානි බැලීමට ආහාර පාන රැගෙනගිය ඔවුන් ඇයට ඉක්මන් සුවය ලැබෙන ලෙස ප්රාර්ථනා කළහ
පසුව, හැරී සහ එමිලි ඉමාෂා නංගිගේ නිවසේදී රසවත් රාත්රී භෝජනයක් භුක්ති විඳමින් ඇගේ පවුල සමඟ ඉතා ප්රීතිමත් සන්ධ්යාවක් ගත කළහ. අමතක නොවන සතුටු මතකයන් රැසක් අවසන් කරමින්, ඔවුන් එදින රෑ චූලනී මහත්මියගේ නිවසේ නවාතැන් ගත්හ.
පහත ඡායාරූප මඟින් උල්ලල ගමේ ජනතාව සමඟ සම්බන්ධ වී, හැරී සහ එමිලි ගත කළ සුන්දර කාලය ඔබට පැහැදිලිව දැක ගත හැකිය.

හැරී හා එමලි මාපලාන විදුහල විදුහලට පැමිණෙති
පෙබරවාරි 1 වන දින උල්ලල ගමේ ගත කළ සුන්දර අත්දැකීම් රැසකට පසු, පෙබරවාරි 2 වන දින හැරි සහ එමිලි මාපලාන විද්යාලය වෙත පැමිණියහ.
පාසලේ ගරු විදුහල්පති සමන් මීගහවත්ත මහතා, ගුරු මණ්ඩලය සහ සිසු දරුවන් විසින් ඔවුන් උණුසුම් ලෙස පිළිගන්නා ලදී . සිනාවෙන් පිරුණු දරුවන් රැසක් විවිධ වර්ණ මල්මාලා පළඳවා ඔවුන් පිට්ටනිය වෙත කැඳවාගෙන ගියහ .
දවස පුරාම හැරී සහ එමිලි දරුවන් සමඟ ඉතා ප්රීතිමත් කාලයක් ගත කළෝය. කුඩා පිරිමි හා ගැහැණු දරුවන් සමග ක්රිකට් සහ බැඩ්මින්ටන් ක්රීඩා කරමින් ඔවුන් සිනාවෙන් හා සතුටෙන් පිරි අමතක නොවන කාලයක් ගත කළහ. විශේෂයෙන් රසවත් අවස්ථාවක් වූයේ ක්රිකට් තරගයේ බැට් කරද්දී එමිලි වාර 7ක්ම “out ” වූවත්, පිරිමි දරුවන් සියල්ලම ඒවා “නෝ බෝල්” බවට එකඟ වී ඇයට තවදුරටත් බැට් කිරීමට ඉඩ ලබා දීමයි. මෙය සියලු දෙනාටම විශාල සතුටක් ගෙන දුන්නේය.
දරුවන් ගීත ගායනා කරමින් සහ නර්තන කරමින් හැරී සහ එමිලි සමග හද පුරා සතුටින් එකතු වූහ. මාපලාන දරුවන්ගේ නිර්මල සිනාව, කරුණාව සහ සතුටින් පිරි හැසිරීම හැරි සහ එමිලි ඉතා ආදරයෙන් විඳගත්හ.
එදින මාපලාන විද්යාලයේ දරුවන්ට අමතක නොවන, විශේෂ දවසක් වීය.
පාසල් නිමාව ළඟා වූ විට වාතාවරණය හැඟීම් වලින් පිරී ගියේය. දරුවන් පේළි ගැසී හැරී සහ එමිලිට අතට අත දෙමින් කණගාටුවෙන් පිරි හදවතින් ඔවුන්ගෙන් සමු ගත්හ.
ලබන වසරේ නැවත ඔවුන් බැලීමට පැමිණෙන ලෙසත් දරුවන් බොහෝ දෙනා ඉල්ලා සිටීම එම සමුගැනීම තවත් සංවේදී කළේය.
මාපලාන විද්යාලයේ දරුවන් සමඟ හැරී සහ එමිලි ගත කළ ඒ සුන්දර දවසේ ඡායාරූප ඔබට පහතින් බලා ගත හැකිය..
