On March 13, 2025, Mr. Devsiri P. Hewavidana attended the Prefect Badge Ceremony of Kamburupitiya Maha Vidyalaya as a special guest. The event began with a vibrant procession led by the school band, escorting guests to the college hall. In his welcome speech, Principal Mr. Chaminda expressed heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Devsiri and the UKFG Foundation for their remarkable contributions to the Mulatiyana Division. The foundation has provided libraries, badminton courts, swimming pools, projectors, computers, books, and shoes to 17 schools in the area, making a significant impact on the students.
During the ceremony, special guests presented medals to the newly appointed prefects, amidst captivating performances by the students. In his entertaining speech, Mr. Devsiri humorously recounted his previous struggles to locate the school despite frequent visits to Kamburupitiya town over the past 21 years. He praised the principal for sending Google directions that finally led him to the school.
Drawing from his own experience as the Head Prefect of Ananda College Colombo in 1972, Mr. Devsiri shared valuable insights on the importance of discipline, character, and unity among school children.
Mr Devsiri congratulated the new prefects and wished them all the best. In a lighthearted moment, he jokingly mentioned seeing banknotes falling out of the principal’s pocket at various events and presented him with a leather wallet imported from England to keep his money safeand a 20 rupee note , much to everyone’s amusement.
Mr. Devsiri expressed his gratitude to the principal and teaching staff for organizing a wonderful ceremony and bid farewell, hoping to return to the school in September for another joyful visit. Below are some pictures from the event

2025 මාර්තු 13 දා කඹුරුපිටිය මහා විද්‍යාලයේ ශිෂ්‍ය නායක උත්සවයට දෙව්සිරි පී. හේවාවිදාන මහතා ද විශේෂ අමුත්තකු වශයෙන් සහභාගි වීය. ඉත අලන්කාර පෙරහැරකින් පාසලේ තූර්ය වාදක මණ්ඩලය විසින් සියලුම අමුත්තන් උත්සව ශාලාවට කැඳවාගෙන යන ලදී. විදුහල්පති චාමින්ද මැතිතුමා පිළිගැනීමේ කතාව කරමින් දෙව්සිරි මැතිතුමා හා ගාලුමිතුරු පදනම විසින් ප්‍රදේශයේ පාසල් 17ක දරුවන්ට පුස්තකාල, බැඩ්මින්ටන් පිටි, පිහිනුම් තටාකයක් projectors, computers , පොත්පත් හා සපත්තු ලබාදීමෙන් කරනු ලබන සේවයට මුලටියන කොට්ඨාසය වෙනුවෙන් තම බලවත් කෘතඥතාවය පුද කරන බව ප්‍රකාශ කළේය. දරුවන්ගේ මනහර නැටුම්, ගැයුම් අතරේ විශේෂ අමුත්තන් විසින් නව ශිෂ්‍ය නායකයින්ට පදක්කම් පළඳවන ලදී. දෙව්සිරි මහතා ඉතා රසවත් කතාවක් කරමින් ප්‍රකාශ කර සිටියේ අවුරුදු විසි එකක් තිස්සේ ලංකාවට පැමිණි සෑම විටකම තමා කඹුරුපිටිය මහ වීදියේ ඉහළට පහළට ගමන් කළ නමුත් කඹුරුපිටිය මහා විද්‍යාලය තියන තැනක් සොයා ගැනීමට අසමත් වූ නිසා පාසැලට ඊට පෙර පැමිණීමට නොහැකි වුණු බවයි. අවසානයේදී විදුහල්පතිතුමා විසින් එවන් ලද ගූගල් මග සලකුණු ඔස්සේ එදින පාසල්ට පැමිණීමට ලැබීම ඉතා භාග්‍යයක් ලෙස සලකන බවත් එතුමා පැවසීය.
1972 වසරේ කොළඹ ආනන්ද මහා විද්‍යාලයේ ප්‍රධාන ශිෂ්‍යනායකයාව සිටි දෙව්සිරි මහතා තම අත්දැකීම් විස්තර කරමින් පාසල් ළමුන්ගේ විනය, හැදියාව, සාමූහිකත්වය ගොඩනැගීම සඳහා ශිෂ්‍යය නායකවරයෙකු සතු වගකීම විස්තර කරමින් ඔවුනට සුභ පැතුවේය. චමින්ද විදුහල්පතිතුමා ඉතා ධනවත් නිසා එතුමාගේ සාක්කුවෙන් මුදල් නෝට්ටු එළියට වීසිවන හැටි ලේනබටු හෝටලයේ පැවැති ප්‍රිය සාද කිහිපයකදී තමා දුටු බව ප්‍රකාශ කළ එතුමා මුදල් පරිස්සමෙන් සාක්කුවේ තබා ගැනීම සඳහා එංගලන්තයෙන් ගෙන්වන ලද හම් පසුම්බියක් රු 20 නෝට්ටුවක් සමග විදුහල්පතිතුමාට පිරිනැමුවේ කාගේත් සිනා හා අත්පොළ සන් මැද්දේය.
ඉතා අලංකාර ශිෂ්‍ය නායක උත්සවයක් සංවිධානය කිරීම ගැන විදුහල්පතිතුමා හා ආචාර්ය මණ්ඩලයට ස්තුති කළ දෙව්සිරි මහතා ලබන සැප්තැම්බර් මාසයේ නැවත පාසලට පැමිණ එවැනිම ප්‍රීතිමත් දවසක් ගත කිරීමට බලාපොරොත්තු වන බව බව ප්‍රකාශ කරමින් ඔවුන්ගෙන් සමු ගත්තේ තරමක් කණගාටුවෙනි. මේ එදින ගන්නා ලද පින්තූරයි.
